The Computer Science buildings are situated in the farthest most north-eastern area of the city center (the corner of Schuetzenbahn and Gerlingstrasse). The Computer Science chairs reside in the old building (abbr. SA) and in the tower block (abbr. SH) and former "Gerlingwache" (Paluno-Institute). You can download a detailed plan here.

Arrival by train:
Starting central station of Essen you can take the tram 106 or 107 with destination "Porscheplatz". The stop where to get off (second stop) is named "Viehofer Platz". Take the exit in the direction of the tram's front and turn left. You can alternativly walk here from the central station through the pedestrian precinct. It will take you about 10 minutes time.
Arrival by car:
If you come from the east from the A40 (former A430), take the exit "Essen-Frillendorf" then proceed along Frillendorfer Strasse till the second traffic lights appear. Turn right into Burggrafenstrasse, then at the second traffic lights turn left into Gerlingstrasse. After the second traffic lights you arrive at Schützenbahn 70 (block tower and the old building).
If you come from the west from the A40 you can already leave the motorway at exit "Zentrum" or "Huttrop" and follow the signs to Zentrum/Universitaet. If you arrive from the A52 from Duesseldorf please take the exit "Essen-Sued" and follow the signs to the University of Essen (not Universitaetsklinikum). After passing the very high administrational building your destination is on the right side.
Arrival by plane:
The nearest airports are Duesseldorf (50km West) and Dortmund (50km East). From Duesseldorf airport there are trains (S-Bahn) to Essen central station. Furthermore see "Arrival by tram".
